A Daily Devotional

Explaining the reason for tragedies caused by acts of nature is difficult to do because we observe how God seems to control nature. What is most difficult to understand is why the most godly and devout of persons are taken to Heaven at the same time the most sinful get to escape death and live for years longer during a tragedy caused by an act of nature. When the innocent and godly are taken in tragedies caused by an act nature we must remember, in God there is eternal life. Perhaps we overlook some vital lessons when we look at God during tragedies. All of us would agree this earthly life is difficult and our heavenly life will be supreme joy and happiness. However, just because our earthly life is difficult and our life in Heaven is full of joy and happiness should not mean we should purposely leave this life before our mission for God is finished here on earth. Because we have a mission to achieve for God, we must all be dieing to live instead of living to die. In our earthly life, no matter what we must do, no matter what we must face, no matter how much suffering we must endure, we must be willing to push forward and pay any price to serve our Lord. When tragedies of nature strike and persons are taken who we feel do not deserve to be taken, we must keep in mind Satan's hand is always at work to try and stop every person's mission for God from being accomplished�even by taking an innocent and godly person's life. In our shock and grief, we must double our efforts to make sure God's mission is accomplished in our own life. A double tragedy occurs when we lose an innocent or godly person whose mission may not have been finished while we lose our mission because we remained motionless in our shock and grief. This is where the shadow of the cross touches all of us who are now living or left behind. The shadow of the cross compels all of us who are now living to keep going and to keep moving. We are to complete our mission to carry His cross so the uncompleted missions of those taken in tragedies may be completed through those of us who remain.
