A Daily Devotional

About accepting Christ and throwing away our sin:

John 6:40 For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (NIV)

To get to a point where you trust God in a healthy way, you must accept Christ died for you. Accepting Christ into your heart and life requires you to throw away the sin in your heart. To truly accept Christ into your heart, you must throw away your sin with force, vigor, and intent. You must throw away the sin in your heart with force, vigor, and intent because the sin in your heart keeps you from trusting God. The voice of sin in you wants you to ignore Christ died for you. The voice of sin in you wants you to ignore Christ's suffering for you. The voice of sin within you sometimes screams at you. Then, when you listen to the voice of sin, you no longer fully trust God with your life. Satan's greatest goal is to get you to never trust God, to never trust others, and to only trust yourself. When you trust God, disappointments may come to you, but you will have His hand to grasp. Trusting God means you will have a person upon whom you can rely forever and ever.
