A Daily Devotional

About turning away from the grip of difficulty:

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (NIV)

Have you ever thought to yourself you just have to get used to difficulty? In our trials and difficulty, we do not have to live in our difficulty like we may have been living in the past. We can turn our heart and mind away from the grip of our difficulty even if we cannot remove our physical body from our circumstance. If you are going to get used to an idea, get used to the idea you do not have to put up with the stinking grip of the difficulty you face!!!! Of course, some aspects of the stinking difficulty you face may always be with you. Some parts of your physical life you may not be able to physically change. You cannot become instantly older or instantly younger. If you are young and you want to be older then you have to wait to become older. If you are old, you can become young in heart while you wait to become eternally young in body, mind, and spirit. However, you can handle any difficulty by turning away from the grip of the difficulty. In your trials, put your ear toward Heaven and listen to the beat of God's heart. Put your ear to the word of God and listen to God tell you He loves you. The more you let your difficulty grab you and hold you, the more the difficulty determines who you are, what you are, and how you are. Turning away from the grip of difficulty means you determine who you are, what you are, and how you are. When you determine to turn away from your difficulty, you can determine to be Christ's child, a person made in His image, and a person totally well and totally free in His spirit of love and grace.
