A Daily Devotional

About what Jesus did:

John 13:33 "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. (NIV)

In the dark days so full of worldly celebration that occurred before the cross, what did Jesus do? As we look at what He did, we can find guidance for our own life. In His dark days before the cross, Jesus kept His faith God would work everything out. Jesus did not abandon God and run away from His destiny of the cross. Jesus held firm and did His Fathers will. Jesus did not live in a sterile environment where nothing touched Him. Everything touched Him. In our personal life, when things collapse, we may want to get angry, rebel, and turn away from God. A mother of young children finds she has cancer..a young executive is passed over for a promotion key to his career..a senior citizen finds he or she cannot make ends meet on a fixed incomeall these persons have a reason to turn away from God. We often say we have prayed, but we too often think God ignores us. We ask God, "Where are you when I need you most?" Jesus knows how you feel in moments of abandonment because He has been there Himself. Jesus knows this very minute what you are going through. What did Jesus do? He didn't quit in the shadow of His torture and death. Jesus went on healing, He went on ministering to people, and He kept doing the will of His father who sent Him. God's will for you in every adversity is for you to keep on believing, keep on trusting, and keep on looking up to Him.
