A Daily Devotional
About when God says "No" in His forgiveness:
John 8:10 "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin." (NIV)
God forgives us of our sins. In forgiving us of our sins, God also commands us to not sin again. God tells us clearly and unmistakably too not do sinful things. God's forgiveness is a healing forgiveness. When God forbids us to not do sinful things, God is trying to get us to not hurt ourselves. In telling us to not sin again, God is telling us not to hurt others. In every instance, when God forgives us and He tells us to not sin again, He is trying to help us. Intertwined in the forgiving love of God we find He wants us to turn away from making the same sinful mistakes over and over again. The forgiveness of God is His love in action. However, with His love in action comes His expectation of us to be obedient and self-disciplined. When we are ordered by God to sin no more, we are ORDERED. God does not "suggest" we sin no more. God does not tell us "maybe we might want to perhaps think" about not sinning. God DEMANDS we sin no more. God demands we walk His straight and narrow path.
