A Daily Devotional
When there is no one to talk to (Part 5 of
5)
Psalm 88:8 You have taken from me my
closest friends and have made me repulsive to them. I am confined and cannot
escape; 9 my eyes are dim with grief. (NIV)
In dealing with loneliness, we must all learn to be honest. We must all tell God we are alone and we need Him. We need God for many reasons. However, the biggest reason we need God is because we are alone in this life. What searing pain loneliness brings! What a tragedy of the soul loneliness brings! In loneliness, some of us are talkers and some of us are listeners. The listeners often never speak when speaking is so needed. The talkers often never listen because they are too busy talking. However, in doing the talking the talkers often speak very little about what is really and truly inside of them needing to be said. Talkers and listeners can bump into each other daily. Yet, talkers and listeners can keep on going while remaining distant as if they had never bumped into each other at all. In either case, whether you are a talker or a listener, the presence of God in Christ brings Him next to you every moment.
