A Daily Devotional

We can often possess the idea temples built by men are somehow connected to God. We can possess the idea our mighty physical churches and cathedrals contain God. We can often think God lives in buildings we build. However, God lives within us, not outside of us or inside inanimate things. We spend an inordinate amount of time thinking God can be found in places other than within us. We can spend a lifetime searching for God in places God would never call a place of His own. In selfishness, we can spend a lifetime involved in searching for ways to get God to give us what we selfishly want. When you are searching for God, you will not find God living in a building. If you find God in a church, the mortar, plaster, steel, or concrete of the building are not holding His love. If you found God in a church, you found God because you looked within yourself. Of all the ironies upon the earth from the beginning of time, we find God within us, hanging from His Cross, giving His life for our life. We do not find God within us yelling and screaming we should worship Him like we see human leaders yell, scream, and demand subservience from followers. Our God is a being of love, always living within us�always gently calling us to come to Him.
