About
the wisdom of walking the narrow path:
John 7:17 If anyone chooses to do God's
will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on
my own. (NIV)
You would think everyone would want to always do the right thing. Common sense should tell everyone not doing the right thing brings trouble. However, in our worldly way of thinking and doing, unfortunately we want to walk on the wide street where we think we have more freedom, more excitement, more enticement, and more fun. The only problem with walking on the wide street is there are consequences in doing what is unrighteous and sinful. Many people know the consequences of a sinful life. They even make the connection between the consequences of their sin and their misfortune caused by sin, but they refuse to walk Christ's narrow path. The wisdom of God is totally mysterious. The wisdom of God can be understood and followed by anyone. For example, you do not have to be the world's smartest genius to understand stealing from others is a bad behavior and will bring upon you a bad consequence. Yet, people continue to walk in ignorance and steal. People walk in ignorance partly because they do not want God's wisdom and partly because they would rather live a sinful life than walk Christ's narrow path. Walking the narrow path has benefits. Walking the narrow path brings happiness, peace, and joy in this life. In addition, walking the narrow path leads us to eternal life if we accept Christ as Lord and Savior.
