About your responsibility:

Romans 15:5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)

You are responsible for your own life, soul, and being. As much as we often need help to deal with the trials of our life, we are each responsible for our life. As we all stand before God, He will ask us what we did with our life, not what did someone else do with our life. Our trials and adversities may indeed be the result of the actions of others. However, we must react to the actions of others so God is glorified in us. We must react to Satan's attacks against us so others and God will see how much we love Him. Each of us is the captain of our own ship. We guide our vessel through the storms of life, often making mistakes as we sail ahead. We go in directions we should not go. However, in the end, we must all recognize we alone determine where we point our life. We can point our life in the direction of serving Christ and being His child or we can point our life in the direction of serving and Satan by pleasing ourselves.
