The Tucson Massacre

This message is not a work of fiction.

The Tucson massacre is geographically and personally close to home for me and my family.

My family and I live just outside of Tucson, AZ. On Saturday morning, the day of the shooting, my wife intended to go to Safeway and Whole Foods Market located across the street from Safeway to get groceries. My wife normally gets up between 4 A.M. to 5 A.M. to get the shopping done early so as to miss the crowds. On Saturday, the day of the massacre she got up but decided she would stay home a little while because she was not feeling well. Praise Jesus, the time she stayed home likely saved her life. She would have been in the parking lot where the shooting took place if she had stayed with her normal schedule and routine. If she had seen Gabby giving a meet and greet, my wife would have been in line to talk to Gabby.

Jared Loughner, the shooter, was in and out of my wife's social agency office several times last fall (2010) doing (supposedly) a job search. Loughner was asked to leave the agency office on his last visit because of Loughner's bizarre behavior.

The shooting has deeply scarred Tucson. The metropolitan area of Tucson is around a million people. However, with so many people injured and murdered, with Gabby being grievously injured, it seems everyone knows someone affected by this tragic event.

What has also been troubling, from my ministerial perspective, is the total lack of candor and truth about the root cause of this tragedy. The root cause of this tragedy is satanic evil. So many people have pointed the finger of blame at anyone or anything other than Satan. The mainstream media and elected officials with their mindless followers do not want to pronounce the "S" word (Satan). Many persons in high places in the world do not want to recognize evil as evil because they have no solution for our satanic/evil problem.

I have a solution to our Satan/evil problem. His name is Jesus.

In this particular case, evil appeared in the form of mental illness as is sometimes the case. In the world, we can handle mental illness with greater compassion and efficiency than in the past. We can handle mental illness with even more efficiency if the person suffering from the mental illness has had a life-long history of a loving church and home influence under the power of Jesus Christ. However, the United States government, U.S. politicians, and many activists have worked hard to take the name of Christ out of our national life. Prayer is no longer present in public school. I could go on and on for hundreds of pages about how our society has declined over the decades because of anti-god influences in the United States and other places in the world. When the power of Christ and the name of Christ are taken out of public life, the power of satanic evil prevails.

Every person is born with a dark and sinful heart. If we do not hear the calling of Christ to repent, hear the calling of Christ to be saved, and hear the calling of Christ to live a righteous life then our life and the life of our society will continue to erode. As our society and world slide further into evil darkness and evil chaos, we will see more events like we saw here in Tucson. (During the time this article was being written, numerous police officers around the U.S. have been shot for reasons unknown. Mass shootings have taken place in other places in the U.S. Look for more of this kind of evil to appear in the future. Riots are taking place in Europe and the Middle East. Why? E-V-I L)

Gun violence occurs in every major city every day. Murderous thoughts are sinful thoughts. Sin-laden human beings pull the trigger of a weapon. We might ban the weapon but what about the sin-laden person bound for hell pulling the trigger?

The anti-God press, the anti-God forces in legislatures around the world, and in all other parts of our world society will not address the root causes of so many of the nation's and world's problems. The root cause of nearly every problem is sin or evil. No matter how much money we spend on social programs, econ stimulus packages, government give-a-way programs, and earmarks, we still have not addressed the sin problem in our society or in our world. Elected officials have poured money into cities, states, and towns for decades in order to appease the electorate. This bribery at the expense of those people who pay taxes is a cancerous growth upon not just American society, but societies around the world. Bribery is a sin. Not telling the electorate the whole truth is a sin.

What can you do? Repent of your sin. Ask Christ to come into your heart and life. Pray for others before you ever pray for yourself. Pray for your nation, no matter where you are on planet Earth. Support your church and church affiliation. Demand elected officials tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Please pray for those persons whose lives have been devastated by the evil in this attack.
