For many people, Christmas is not a time of joy and celebration. Changes take place in life and those changes can bring real difficulty on holidays. When we go through major life adjustments, we need to keep in mind the holidays require adjustments from us when change occurs. When Christmas changes for the better, our adjustments may come easier. When Christmas changes for the worse, we need to work hard to make sure we protect ourselves from unnecessary hurt and pain. It is good and great to celebrate our Savior’s birth. It is not good and great to celebrate our Savior’s birth when we must face emotional pain and emotional hurt to celebrate. If you must face a difficult time at Christmas, do everything you can to help others and serve others. Lose yourself in giving your heart to them to make their Christmas better. The gift of help and service we give to others in our pain and poverty is the supreme form of giving in Christ’s eyes. If you face Christmas during a time of adjustment, be sure to have a goal for the Christmas season. Also, be sure to have a goal for celebrating Christmas day. If you face Christmas alone, do everything possible to help others on Christmas day by volunteering your time at an organization serving food or helping others on our Lord’s birthday.
