Topic: Forgive Yourself

You must forgive yourself. We all need to let go of the horrible yardstick of perfection we carry within us. All of us have hurt others and we have fallen short. The more decent we are the more we feel the pain we have caused others. When you forgive yourself, you release yourself from the prison of remorse and shame. Remorse and shame destroy you. Remorse and shame tear apart your soul. Both remorse and shame are a form of self-hate. Regret is what we feel about what we have done when we have committed a wrong. We may not meet our expectations of ourselves but not meeting our expectations of ourselves does not mean we are condemned for it. We have great potential for good, for kindness, for forgiveness, for love, and for healing, but not if we live in a sea of guilt and self-condemnation.
